CASA Harvest for those in need

The Christian Agency for Social Action, or CASA as it is better known by many of our supporters, is in Oradea, in the northwest of Romania. Eurovangelism has supported the work of CASA since it began in 1996, and we are always amazed when we look at how it has grown, and just how many people are helped by this dedicated team each year.

This year, for the first time, CASA has been recognised by the National Education Ministry, enabling them to run European Computer Driving Licence courses, and 66 people have already been through the course at the beginning of the year.
One of the major things that CASA has always been involved with is distributing aid to families living in poverty. The difference that a parcel of food can make to a family 'living on a shoestring' is fantastic, especially during the cold winter months - if dad is able to get a temporary job, the struggle is then whether to spend the few pennies earned on firewood for heat, or on food to eat.

The Malita family lives in a village 30km outside of Oradea in very poor conditions.
Unfortunately, this family doesn't even have a father to go out and find occasional work, mum lives here alone with her two children. The father died of cancer, but before that he was an alcoholic and both children have been affected with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. The son is nine years old and has a mental age of three, whilst the daughter has a congenital problem with her right leg and so walks with a limp.
CASA regularly visit this family with food parcels, taking the strain off mum to provide for her children in so many ways. In addition to the food parcels, CASA have recently been able to give a stove and ten hens to the Malita family, as well as clothes and shoes for the children, following the launch of the Eurovangelism Gift Catalogue last Christmas.

We are currently taking registrations from people across the UK who want to get involved in this year's Harvest for the Hungry project, by either sponsoring or filling food parcels for people like the Malita family.

You can take part either individually, or try and get your church involved. Check out our website at www.harvestforthehungry.org.uk for more information.
Please pray with us:

  • For the safety of the CASA team and God's protection as they travel dangerous roads and large distances to distribute the food parcels.

  • That these poor families would see God's love in action as they receive food and care from the CASA team.
