A Fresh Approach for Christmas
Erion Cuni
This Christmas the Life in Christ Church at Unaza e Re, near Tirana in Albania, decided to adopt a different approach to inviting people to their services. They took the decision to invite only family members not yet Christians and hoped it would be met with a good response. One church member was hesitant about inviting a brother with alcohol problems, but after being encouraged to do so, his brother did indeed come along. In fact, he has been coming along to every service since Christmas as well! What is more, they had 60 new visitors over Christmas.
This was a great encouragement to the church, led by Erion and Gentiana Cuni. As they say, “So every one of us understood that we must do our duty and the Lord takes care of the rest.” The ‘Life in Christ Evangelical Church’ began meeting in Tirana in 2007, but since the majority of the congregation came from the suburb of Unaza e Re they now meet there, rather than in Tirana. Unaza e Re has a diverse population of migrants, Muslims, Jehovah’s Witnesses and agnostics, many of whom do not have regular work and struggle to feed their families.
- Pray for those who came to church for the first time over Christmas.
- Pray for Erion and Gentiana as they oversee the various activities of this very outward focussed church
- Pray for the support needed to enable Erion and Gentiana to lead this church full time.
