Summer Camps in Serbia

Danny and Vera Kuranji from Novi Sad, Serbia, write:

'We are planning a number of camps for this summer, and would appreciate your prayers. We would like to see as many kids as possible going to the camps, we would love to see them play, rest, make new friends, and we would love to provide a good program and care. Pray that young people will understand who Jesus is and that He will become their Savior and Lord.'

Montenegro Update

The verdict of the referendum in Montenegro at the weekend is for independence from Serbia. So far, peace prevails, and the two countries plan to discuss plans for independence over the coming weeks, rather than separate abruptly now. Please continue to pray for peace in this area of the Balkans.

Spreading the Gospel in Serbia

Maca Turner is supported by a church through Eurovangelism to carry out work in Sombor, Serbia. Maca visits about 30 families each month with humanitarian aid and she reports:

"I pray for each family regularly and many have shown an interest in the Gospel. I never lose hope! Sometimes I get discouraged that people don't respond faster, but I never let this keep me from spreading the Gospel. Please pray the Lord would give me strength to endure such an intense ministry."

Heart to Heart, Romania

Traian and Elena Pascalau (pictured) in Romania have written to us praising God for His provision of a new house to use for the Day Centre for the elderly people of Constanta! This new building means that 50 people will be able to attend, instead of the previous maximum of about 26.

Please pray that they will be able to get resources to decorate the house.

Please also pray for Romeo who has recently given his life to Christ, having previously considered Christianity a cult. He is currently undergoing classes for baptism - please pray for his discipleship.

Referendum in Montenegro

A referendum is due to take place in Montenegro on Sunday, to determine whether the country will become independent from Serbia. A majority of 55% is needed for the country to split; current polls reveal that only 50 to 55% of the population want this, so the vote is not clear cut at all.

Please pray that peace will overrule as the possibility for upset is strong. Please also pray for Eurovangelism partner, Jovica Bacvanski and his family, as they continue to make the gospel known in this country.

The Future of Kosovo

Negotiations are underway in Vienna for the independence of Kosovo from Serbia. The fourth rounds of these talks are in progress.

The Serbian Foreign Minister has threatened a 'period of instability' in the Balkans if Kosovo is granted independence.

Please pray for peace to prevail in this volatile region of Eastern Europe.

Thank You from Serbia

Dear friends,
Just a note to thank you for your prayers and to keep you informed about the latest happenings regarding our last prayer requests.
Water is going down, and it will take a while for homes that were under the water to dry. Lots of work will have to be done before people can move back in, so please continue to pray.

The President did sign the religious law, evangelicals are not pleased and we will all have to re-register our churches.
Thank you for taking time to remember us and this part of the world as you pray,
In Him,
Vera and Danny Kuranji
